Imagine being jailed for simply writing about an issue, or doing our work as writers and journalists. Well that is what is happening around the world.

Join me please in signing this all-important petition to show your support to Sudanese journalists now in jail:

Ask three friends to sign this petition to help wrongly imprisoned Sudanese journalists

Dear Michelle,

Thank you so much for signing our petition to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to help free Fatima Ghazali and other wrongly imprisoned journalists. We have almost 10,000 signatures, but we need your help to get to our goal of 16,000 signatures.

When journalist Fatima Ghazali reported on the alleged rape of youth activist Safiya Ishaq, she thought she was just doing her job. Unless someone intervenes, she faces a month behind bars. »

The Sudan constitution specifically protects freedom of press. But Ghazali's right to free speech and press was trampled on when she and five other journalists were accused of "publishing lies" in regard to Ishaq's rape.

The all too frequent harassment and prosecution of journalists in northern Sudan is threatening their right to freedom of press and the Sudanese public's right to information.

We need to demand that journalists in Sudan are granted their constitutional right and help free prosecuted journalists. Sign today!:
