We have also a more sure word of prophecy; to which all of you do well that all of you take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. – 2 Peter 1:19-20 (KJV)
There are a lot of words of prophecy in the world and in the church today. Many people have words of prophecy. In recent history, many people have falsely claimed they knew the day that the end of the world would come. They did this supposedly in' name. But they only brought confusion and shame.
Jesus says that no man knows the day of His coming. No man knows the hour. We only can see the signs of the season. The signs have come. The season is upon us. Now is the time to be saved.
There is no more time to put off the coming of the Lord. There is no time to waste indulging in sin, or our own pleasures, our own comforts, our own entertainment. Jesus says many false prophets would come in the last days, claiming to be of some importance. They have come. These are the last days. Indeed, we are in the last seconds of the last hour of the last days.
There are indeed many words of prophecy to be found. There are a lot of people running around singing, speaking, painting, working, doing, building “in the name of Jesus.” But we have a more sure word of prophecy. We have the Holy Bible, God's Word that He wrote and He has preserved, and He will preserve until the soon coming Day of His return in glory. When we want to hear God's voice, we turn to His written Word.
The prophecies of men and their dreams come and go, but the Word of God is forever. People can make their own private interpretations of false prophecies and false dreams, but there is no private interpretation of God's Word. Oh, men and demons may twist God's Word in their own heart and mind and with their own lips, but that doesn't change what God's Word really means. The true meaning of God's Word never changes and can only be truly understood by the spiritual, those who have repented of their sin and been born again by God's Holy Spirit.
Without the Holy Spirit, the written words that we see on the paper of our Bibles is dead for us. It is the Holy Spirit, the breath of God that brings those words to life in us. It is by the Holy Spirit that God breathes understanding and application of His Word into our hearts. From Genesis to Revelation, all the Word of God is alive and active and sharper than any two-edged sword in the hearts of as many as God breathes the breath of eternal life, the Holy Spirit, into.
God's prophecy is true. It is unchanging. It is eternal. It is of no private interpretation. Scripture will always interpret Scripture, and that only in the Holy Spirit. The Word of God is the only lasting, certain, and secure prophecy we need.
Are you in the Holy Spirit? Is He in you? If not, you are not saved, you are not born-again, you cannot understand God's Word or be righteous in His sight.
Jesus is calling. He doesn't want any of us to be deceived by false prophets and the way they cunningly twist the Word of God to support their doctrines of demons. Jesus doesn't desire that any of us should perish. The Lord wants for all of us to repent of our sin, be born again by the Holy Spirit, and walk in obedience to God's Word.
Jesus is calling. He is calling to very many people who think they know Him, but do not. He is calling today so that as many as will come to Him won't have to ever hear, “Depart from Me, you wicked; I never knew you who practice lawlessness.” (see Matthew 7:21-23)
Jesus is calling your name.
Jesus is calling.
What are you going to do?
