PEN PUSHING ON SCIENCE, NEW SPECIES DISCOVERY AND EXPEDITION TO UNFOLD
It all started with exchanges of correspondence between two (2) correspondents, Dave and Fred. When Fred was still young being a newly registered contributor writer at Allvoices.Com on october 30, 2010, Dave is one of the earliest page visitors in the early posts of Fred. Dave’s comments were favorable and some were spicy and acidic depending on the subject matters and in the process, he disclosed his being one of the several US Navy Service men stationed at the former US Naval Base, Subic Bay, Philippines. The friendship bonds between the American and Filipino correspondents started to firm up for closer understanding between them and one day, the American wrote to his Filipino friend at Allvoices: “I found this article really interesting. Researchers at the California Academy of Sciences and their colleagues from the University of the Philippines and the National Museum of the Philippines conducted a 42-day expedition this past spring to survey Luzon Island, the largest island in the Philippine archipelago, as well as its surrounding waters." I am going to try to attend the lecture at the academy of sciences event about this expedition this Thursday. If I do, and if you are interested, I'll e-mail you about it. This might make a great... You might even e-mail U.P. and/or the National Museum scientists and get some interesting... but I'm just thinking aloud. In any event, regardless of whether or not you would like to write about it, I hope you find this interesting too. Best, David.
In a latest communication, Dave says: HI Fred, I did attend the event at the California Academy of Sciences last Thursday. the main lecture was already "sold out" (the free tickets were all given away), but I went to the displays and spoke with some of the scientists who went on the expedition. I think that this could make a very nice (writing output), getting material by following up with the US and PI researchers. There is the science and new species discovery, and also the story of the "expedition" where they were hiking in Luzon from the mountains to the sea and were living in expedition tents during a typhoon, etc.
I spoke with one young female scientist who studies spiders, told her about… and us collaborating on a series of (notes)... She said she would be happy to answer questions we e-mail her, provide some of her photos, and introduce us ot her Filipino colleagues so we can e-mail them as well.
Her name is Natalia. She is originally from Greece. She is an attractive young woman who studies creepy spiders (lol), and I think can make an interesting part of the story as well. If you would like to proceed writing me, I suggest that I send her a follow-up e-mail with some questions, request for some pictures, and a request for intros to some of her colleagues in PI. Then, I can write…of this, and you can e-mail the scientists there with questions and for pictures as well. Then, under your byline, you can publish... How does this sound as a way to proceed? Is this something that you are interested in doing, and would enjoy writing about? Thanks, David.
In turn Fred wrote to Dave, “Just read your email dated July 06, 2011 and am excited about what you said. Yes, let us embark writing about the discovery in order to let the whole world knows about them... It would be a good idea that you email Natalia and introduce me. Typhoon Falcon did some disturbance here and teaching at Olongapo City National High School makes me keep going these days as usual. Hope to hear from you soon. Pls find time to see my post on the new Kalaklan Bridge(City Cemetery side of Kalaklan) to replace the old bridge you used to pass through from the base to Bo. Barretto.
Trust and confidence with each other make this endeavor possible. Fans, friends and readers watch for any post on the matter soon here at Allvoices.
