The Ivorian president, Alassane Ouattara, has appointed Thursday, July 7,Soumaila Bakayoko , the former military leader of the rebels, as Chief of Staff of the army. In a move designed to speed up national reconciliation, he also appointedDeto Leto , general under former President Laurent Gbagbo , the position of Deputy Chief of Staff.
President Ouattara has also changed the heads of the army, the air force, navy and gendarmerie in place under his predecessor. But for the sake of balancing the positions of Chief of Staff of the Army, leaders of the gendarmerie and the police were awarded to men who served under.
MERGER OF ARMED
