Gay Teen Murder Trial Begins In California

In the United States began in the trial of teenager accused of fatally shooting a classmate because he was homosexual in Oxnard, near Los Angeles in February 2008.

Brandon McInerney, who was 14 at the time, is being tried as an adult on charges of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors say the boy smuggled a firearm in a school in California and shot twice from behind to Lawrence King, fifteen, while sitting at a computer.

They say McInerny was influenced by Nazi ideology.

McInerny has pleaded not guilty to murder and committing a hate crime.

His lawyers say he was beside himself after suffering unwanted sexual advances by the victim.
