Suspect Bayani F. Corpuz,52, alias Ben admitted hammering in the head both Letecia Lupian and her niece Vilma Bandilao,23, to death because they saw him stealing money from the warehouse, according to police findings.
The suspect added he kept their cadavers inside the warehouse freezer to allow him more time to escape since the cadavers will not stink, preventing police from not discovering his crime, said Laguna Police Director Gilberto Cruz.
Last June 22, the frozen bodies of the victims were discovered by Antonio del Villar inside a warehouse in Mariflor Subdivision, Barangay Del Remedio, San Pablo City.
San Pablo City Mayor Vicente Amante offered P300,000 reward for the arrest of the suspect.
Lured by the reward money, an informant communicated to police the whereabouts of the suspect.
Joint operatives of the Laguna and Isabela police then swooped down on the rented house of Corpuz in Barangay Remedios in San Mateo at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 resulting in his arrest.
Laguna Police Director Gilberto Cruz said the killing of Vilma Bandilao and Letecia Lupian also led the cops in the unearthing of 8 murder and homicide cases in Isabela, Nueva Viscaya and other provinces in Northern Luzon wherein Corpuz is alleged to be the perpetrator.
The alleged brutal murderer is a laborer, a family driver and a native of Tarlac.
