How can those who should be protecting us be so stupid and negligent in their duties. The out of control fire at Los Alamos brings more and more bad news. The town of Los Alamos has been evacuated. Those people are relatively safe, but the big word is relatively. Massive amounts of plutonium and radioactive garbage stand to burn and spread their deadly poisons far and wide.
Weapons grade plutonium is stored at the site. It takes an infinitesimally small amount to kill a person if it is breathed in or ingested. Officials have assured the public that it is safe and that the fire won’t breach the containers. We have to take them at their word, don’t we?
There is also a huge stockpile of radioactive garbage vulnerable to the flames.

Again, we have been assured that the barrels of highly poisonous material, stored in tents, is in no danger of burning and releasing radioactive particles into the air that people are breathing. They have had to evacuate the town, it may burn, but the stuff stored in tents is perfectly safe.
This comes on the heels of the flooded nuclear power plants in Nebraska that are also perfectly safe. Followed yesterday be the news that the report for the safe storage of radioactive waste in Yucca Mountain had been fiddled with, much to the chagrin of scientists who worked on the report.
Fukushima Daiichi was perfectly safe we were told. So was Windscale, Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and numerous other installations. It’s estimated that over the past 20 years over 50 000 people have died early from the disaster at Chernobyl, how many more will die if the plutonium gets vaporized?
