Mexican President Felipe Calderon

So the 'monkey' has been finally arrested. Yes Mendiz Vargas the boss of the notorious cartel La Familia who is more famously known as monkey has been arrested.

The importance of his arrest can be judged from the fact that the President of Mexico Felipe Calderon congratulated the police on the capture of the prized asset, and termed it a victory against the ever increasing organised crime particularly of the drug smuggling.

"The Monkey" was arrested in the central city of Aguascalientes.

A number of charges await Mr. Mendiz from the office of the Mexican Attorney General which include the smuggling of various drugs to different states of Mexico and US. Besides these charges Mr. Mendiz will be facing many charges of killing and kidnapping of his opponent drug cartels.

He is the second highest leader of the La Familia to have been either arrested or killed by the police after Nazario Moreno, was killed by security forces in December 2010.
