Publish On Amazon's Kindle Platform: traffic strategies

I may be singing to the choir, but I wanted to share my experience in publishing my first book. It's an ebook but the world is a changing. With the advent of Kindle, the iPad and the swell of other tabletish platforms, it won't be too long before we will be reading about the ancient history of libraries. (Don't murder the messenger)

My experience may be unique. Over the course of the last two years, I have been assmebling short stories about my experiences here in Brazil. It's not a novel in the most learned sense. It's more a collection of short stories. But the experience of assembling and making a product cohesive was a lot of fun and miserable editing. First recommendation - get a good editor.

There are a number of platforms where a writer can submit their work for publication. I looked at Kindle, Barnes and Noble and a couple of others. I chose Kindle because of its association with Amazon and its simplicity in the transformation process. I did try a couple of others and I felt as though I should have had a computer science degree. I am no tech nerd. Even though I am not a shill for Kindle, they do offer an app or application for free that allows a reader to view an ebook on their computer. That application allows for someone without that particular type of unit, i.e., iPad or Kindle, to be able to read the book they purchase online.

The feeling is amazing. I had dreams of waking up after the first night and having sold hundred of thousands of copies - well - I really woke up. I am just now finding out the best way to market my offering and there are a ton of sites and blogs that have recommendations for free.

I have sold some and I am hopeful to become better and better at this. I hope you all will give it a whirl. The experience can be really enlightening. If anyone has questions about my experience, I am happy to share. If you are willing to provide advice, I am willing to listen. Check out all the valuable twitter tweets on the right panel. There is huge resource to learn.

Oh by the way, one of the things I have learned is to promote it anytime you can.
