MOGADISHU - Court of Al-shabab militieas has carried out cutting hand sentence to a young Somali teanger who was accused off stealing acts in Afgoi, a town 30 kilomitres to south of the Somali capital Mogadishu, officials said on saturday.
Residents of Afgoi town said that al-shabab fighters amputated the right hand of the young man in a public square where more poeple gathered in Afgoi town on saturday afternoon adding that the man was 20 years old and called Aweys Abdullahi Ibrahim
More poeple who were forced by al-shabab milities to watch the sentenced man and officials of the group were present at the area where the man lost his arm
Sheik Abdihakin,the judge of al shabab court of Afgi town in southern Somalia said that Mr. Aweys broke a business centre in Afgoi town and took at least 6 million So,Sh. pointing out that the court decided to cut his right hand in a public area. The judge said that the youngman admitted he stole the money.
It is the first time that the group carries out a sentence cut the hand of a young man since al shabab took over the control of the town from Hizbul Islam who controlled it earlir.
