Dolly to Hit Texas as Hurricane
Tropical Storm Dolly intensified over the warm waters of the western Gulf of Mexico as it bore down on southern Texas on Tuesday. Forecasters expected it to become a Category 1 hurricane before hitting land Wednesday morning somewhere along the Mexican border with southern Texas.
At 11 a.m. ET, Dolly had sustained winds of nearly 70 mph and was 230 miles southeast of the border town of Brownsville, Texas, which could see the brunt of the storm.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane warning for the Texas coast from Brownsville to Corpus Christi. In Mexico, the warming extended from the border with Texas to Rio San Fernando
