Dead Man's Body Pulled From River Nene In Northampton

A shocked member of the public discovered the body of a man in the River Nene, Northampton this morning. The body was pulled out of the river by Northamptonshire Police.

The body was found in the Nene near Bedford Road. Police had to close the road, the A428, for several hours. The man was pulled out of the river at 10.50 am and was declared dead at 11.50 am.

There was widespread disruption to traffic as police investigated the discovery of the man's body and the circumstances of his death. Traffic trailed back for a mile or so as diversions were set up.

Police say that they believe that there are no suspicious circumstances. The road was reopened at around 2.30 pm.
