Natalia Avseenko, 36, braved the Arctic wild as she took it on herself to strip naked as marine experts believe beluga whales do not like to be touched by artificial materials such as diving suits.
The remarkable Russian diver dove into the sub zero Arctic water where the temperature hit minus 1.5 degrees Centigrade, and used her perfected yoga meditation techniques to control her breathing under water for an incredible ten minutes and 40 seconds and tolerate the freezing temperature, no doubt.
There are an estimated 100,000 belugas in the wild. Besides having extremely sensitive skins, belugas also have a large range of “facial expressions” which result from having a more flexible bone structure than other whales.
Natalia conducted her beluga project in the Murmansk Oblast region in the far north-west of Russia at the shore of the White Sea near the Arctic Circle branch of the Utrish Dolphinarium.
Perhaps it’s time for all of us to meditate and see where that leads us…
What a brave woman! Kudos to Avseenko!!!
