Hong Kong Eases Travel Alert to Japan!

Government of Hong Kong eased its travel alert to Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima and Ibaragi prefectures of Japan from "travel stop" to "voluntary travel restraint" on June 10th. It still alarms that one should not enter the areas within 80 kilometers from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Travel alerts of Hong Kong have three levels namely "stop", "restraint" and "care".

Japan is an attractive tourist destination for the people of Hong Kong with a half a million visiting every year. However, during April the number of tourists from Hong Kong declined by 87 percent compared to the same month a year ago. According to the Japanese Government's Hong Kong office, the number is picking up from May.
