Thats not just in Islam or Iran, adultery is punishable by stoning in Christianity and Judaism also. Thats another thing that they do not follow what their holy scriptures says.

Is it ok to stone anyone to death regardless of crime? Shouldn't we as modern people learn to deal with issues in more humane way?

I don't take sides, but the spouse should decide what the punishment should be stoning or forgiveness

rule should be simple: you cheat then you don't have a meaniful relationship. get over it. drink some alcohal if that helps. go separate ways. don't kill the spouse.

I agree with Watergate that the hope is for humans to deal with issues in the most humane way possible regardless of religion. Even as modern people, we have a long way to go. If we are not always striving for peace, evolving our consciousness, etc. then we are not behaving as intelligent beings and certainly not encouraging a brighter future. Dialogue on all global issues is extremely important. I love the fact that allvoices enables dialogue on important news/issues in a fantastically designed forum.
