As heavy rain and strong gales battered the coast, state authorities said some 40,000 people had been evacuated

KARACHI: Low air pressure in the Arabian Sea is likely to increase, which could turn into a medium intensity tropical cyclone in the next two days, Meteorological Department warned on Wednesday.

People have been advised against visiting the beaches, while police have been deployed along the coastal areas. Fishermen who are now present in the open sea have been directed to return before Friday. All fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan are advised not to venture in open sea from Friday to Monday.

The cyclone would pass through the coasts of Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Makran and Gwadar, giving way to heavy rainfall and winds in these areas.
