In a bizzare shooting spree a 73 year old man committed suicide after killing 5 persons and injuring another. This unfortunate incident happened in Yuma, Arizona. The motive behind these killings is yet not known.
The man started his killing spree when he gunned down a man later identified as Jerrold Shelley, a local attorney. This killing took place within the city limits. The four others were killed in greater Yuma County, where the other person was injured, according to Yuma Police Officer Cruz Vidal.
Later on the police recoverd the body of the suspected killer an old man of 73 years identified as Carey Hal Dyess. According to the police the first indications are that he died of a self inflicted gun wound. his body was found on Highway 95 in Blaisdell, a community east of Yuma.
Yuma is a city of more than 87,000 people, according to a 2006 U.S. Census Bureau estimate, out of nearly 200,000 people in the county. It is near the intersection of Arizona, California and Mexico, about 170 miles east of San Diego.
