This is a case of exorcism that misfired. Two women of Fort Wayne, Indiana, believed that evil spirits had taken possession of their sons – the evil spirit was named ‘Marzon’. The only way to drive it out was to give the babies a dose of olive oil and vinegar. That is what the mothers did.

While three of the babies vomited out the vile mixture, one of the women did not want her son to vomit it out. So she kept the mouth of the baby closed with her palm and the child died due to suffocation. It was an exorcism that misfired – a botched exorcism. After the baby died in November 2009, the mother hid the body in a plastic bag till it was discovered in December 2010. She believed that the baby would come back to life.

The 31-year old mother Latisha Lawson now faces charges of murder and could go to prison for up to 45 years.
