This muleta is a piece of thick crimson cloth which is draped over a short stick, the killing sword, which is always to be held in the right hand.
This show is basically a dance with death. One wrong move can be deadly for Matador. It is the Matador's duty or job to make this dance more dramatic and enjoyable for the audience sitting to see this fight.
The matador needs to stand approximately ten feet from the bull. The matador attacks the bull by pushing the espada over the horns of bull and between the shoulder blades it causes the death of bull. But if the bull fails to die the matador is given with a sword with a short cross piece at the end, which he bashes into the bull's neck. And eventually the bull dies after which the fight is over.
