California student gets his college degree at 18 years of age

New source Cable New Network and KERO report from Bakersfield California Spencer Lafavor 18, a Bakersfield California student his associates degree before he graduated from high school.

Spencer said "I have an associates degree in social science."

Lafavor started getting bored with his high school workload because he felt he was not challenged enough, so his mother suggested he take an online course in psychology.

Lafavor said "It was just interesting because of how the mind works and why we make the choices we do."

Over the next four years, Lafavor continued to take course at Taft College in Bakersfield California, and last week his received his degree.

Lafavor graduated from Taft College with a 3.25 grade point average (GPA), but he said hard work not being a boy genius paid off.

Lafavor said "It doesn't take being a genius to accomplish this. It just takes hard work and determination."

Lafavor will enroll at California State University in Bakersfield in the autumn of 2011 as a junior with 100 credits toward his college degree.

Lafavor said "I'm going to double major in political science and business administration, and after that I might either to go to law school or get a masters in business."

Lafavor will graduate from high school next Thursday.
