A judge of the Hague court has ruled that Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladic, the alleged mastermind of the Srebrenica massacre and other atrocities, is physically fit to face international justice at a war crimes court.
Mladic will be tried for organizing the Srebrenica massacre - the worst single atrocity in Europe since World War II - and the 44-month siege of Sarajevo.
In July of 1995, 8000 Muslim men and boys were rounded up and killed at Srebrenica in Europe's deadliest massacre since World War II.
"It has been established that Ratko Mladic's health condition makes him fit to stand trial ... We have decided the conditions for transfer have been met," said judge Maja Kovacevic outside Serbia's special war crimes court.
"Doctors say he is physically fit to follow the procedure despite the fact that he is suffering from several chronic illnesses."
The judge also added that Mladic "has refused to accept the indictment by The Hague court," where he faces charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Since there is no statute of limitations on murder – and that should include genocide – why don’t we prosecute all such killings that have occurred throughout history, including those of certain peoples being forced to convert to certain religions or having to suffer death or loss of all privileges and ostracism from society?Just a thought…
