The mother of a six-year-old Texas boy found dead on a road in Maine during the weekend has admitted to the killing of her son. Julianne McCrery, mother of six-year-old Camden Pierce Hughes, confessed leaving her son under cover on a desolate tract near the New Hampshire border.
According to investigators, McCrery admitted to having accidentally overdosed her son with syrup to treat him for cough. It is noteworthy that McCrery had written a book titled "Goodnight, Sleep Tight". She describes herself in the autobiography as an ex-school bus driver and cement mixer.
Police reportedly booked McCrery on Wednesday morning at a stop on a highway in Massachusetts. Her arrest was confirmed by David Procopio, an official of Massachusetts State Police.
McCrery was spotted at the highway stop by a citizen who recognized her car and informed the police. The citizen said he recognized the car of McCrery from the news coverage.
Female troopers reportedly approached her car and when one of them asked her if she needs help, McCrery said she has killed her son and wants to kill herself.
"I killed my son. I want to kill myself," she reportedly said.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that McCrery was carried to a medical center for examination. According to WBZ, she has been charged with second-degree murder case.
Prior to the arrest of McCrery, authorities came up with a computer aided image of the mystery child. The boy was described as 3.8 feet tall with weight of 45 pounds. The photo showed the boy had blue eyes in addition to blond short hair.
The boy was found wearing a gray-colored sweatshirt, navy blue t-shirt and tan pants. According to officials, the condition of the boy established that he was well looked after prior to his death.
In an effort to identify the dead boy, investigators used Facebook and the mainstream media.
Meanwhile, a Texas friend of McCery's, Christian von Atzigen of Irving, said that he informed police after seeing the computer-generated photo of the child. Christian von Atzigen and his wife have been friends with McCery for almost 15 years.
According to investigators, the dead body of the boy was located next to the dirt road 9 to 10 hours prior to its discovery on Saturday at 5 p.m. Details about condition of the woman are yet to be known.
