Road to the semi-finals: RCB

It had been smooth sailing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore – but suddenly a gale took the wind out of is sails. It was the gale of Gilly, Adam Gilchrist, the captain of the Kings XI Punjab. The position of the RCB in the league points table is now shaky.

RCB boosted with a player like Chris Gayle, was sitting pretty on top of the IPL league table and had never expected to be drubbed by the KXIP in such a humiliating manner. Riding on the 55-ball 106 runs from Adam Gilchrist (it was his second IPL century, a record), the KXIP put on a huge total of 232 runs – the highest this season by any team. The KXIP defeated the RCB by 111 runs in 17 overs. It was Brian Harris with 3 wickets and Piyush Chawla with 4 wickets who wrecked havoc on RCB.

At the end of it all, Preity Zinta was jubilant and all smiles, but the same cannot be said of Dr Vijay Mallya.
