Burundi: Journalist Jean-Claude Kavumbagu will be released on Monday

The release of Burundian journalist Jean-Claude Kavumbagu is expected today, according to Eric Manirakiza, our correspondent in Bujumbura.

Jean-Claude Kavumbagu, editor of online Net Press, was arrested July 17, 2010, days after the publication of his article "Burundi will be there the next target Chebaba Somali? . The government accused him of treason.

The director of Net Press was sentenced Friday to eight months in prison and a fine. He has already served his sentence and his lawyer will seek his release.
