Despite the wearies felt throughout the north-eastern areas of Japan, it is time for the spring rituals to open the routes up to the mountains here and there.
Yesterday a ceremony for praying safe mountain climbing was undertaken for the Mount Kurikoma-san (1,627 meters) route with participation of sixty climbers and the local government officials.
Kurikoma-san stands on the demarkation along Iwate, Miyagi and Akita prefectures.
Toshiyuki Kuze, President of the Kurikoma-san Tourism Association, reportedly said "the number of tourists visiting here were quite low due to the earthquake. Yet, the Mount Kurikoma-san remained intact. We would like many people come here and heal hearts and minds with the fabulous beauty of the nature."
According to the spokesperson of Kurihara City, the cotton grasses and nikko carex in the Sekaitanichi-moorland will be in full bloom during June.
