Until now, along with the tumor, all lymph nodes in the groin removed.Oonk Maaike gynecologist developed a method to help determine whether there was any metastasis in lymph nodes. There are none, they do not have to be removed.

Less burdensome

The new method means that doctors see if the sentinel node metastases are found. Is not the case, it may be assumed that the other nodes also clean. So they can sit.

With the old method, when two thirds of patients unnecessarily glands removed. Patients were also unnecessarily high risk for complications such as infections and swelling in the legs.
