Tomorrow Never Dies OST 13th

It’s Friday the 13th tomorrow. According to a research, 17 to 21 million people in the United States alone are affected by a fear of Friday the 13th. This is an alarming statistic and it actually proves that Friday the 13th is a commonly feared day not just in the U.S., but its considered jinxed all over the world.

Stress Management Center and phobia Institute also reported that “it’s been estimated that $800-$900 million is lost in business on this day because people will not fly or do business they would normally do." Followers of various religions believe in this superstition. However, according to folklorists, there was no written evidence for a "Friday the 13th" superstition before the 19th century and it is just an age-old tradition, which has been magnified and exaggerated many a times over the years.

The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia (Frigga is the name of the Norse goddess. Friday is named after Frigga. triskaidekaphobia means the fear of the number 13) or paraskevidekatriaphobia. Despite being a difficult word to pronounce, it’s a very common problem amongst those who fear this day and they end up developing obsessive compulsive disorders.

The research conducted by Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, N.C. estimates reiterate that Friday the 13th is a commonly feared day all over the world. Plenty of evidence backs this research hence all associations with this number as well as day are considered unlucky and in some cases hazardous. Interestingly, in the Gregorian calendar, this day occurs at least once, but at most, three times a year. Any month's 13th day will fall on a Friday if the month starts on a Sunday.

As far as history is concerned, various disasters and tragedies happen to share the same date. The renowned rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur was pronounced dead on Friday, September 13, 1996. Hurricane Charley made landfall in south Florida on Friday, August 13, 2004. The Andes Plane Crash of 1972 occurred on Friday, October 13, 1972, and you never know what might happen tomorrow that could make its way to the hall of fame of Friday the 13th.
