A German court has convicted a German citizen of Syrian descent, in prison for four years and 9 months, after he claimed to be members of
Frankfurt justice punish Rami Makanesi Monday, after he confessed on the first day of her trial that she was a member of al-Qaida and joined the exercise in one of the paramilitary camp in Pakistan. In return he handed down lighter sentences.
Makanesi left Germany and went to Pakistan in 2009 to participate in training camps in Waziristan border region. Prosecutors said the 25-year-old resident plans to return to Germany to raise funds for al-Qaeda and took part in terrorist operations. He was arrested in Pakistan in June 2010 and extradited to Germany two months later.
During the trial itself, Makanesi cooperate with authorities, telling about terror attacks plan to allow for increased security measures. Cooperation given the opportunity to make a deal in which prosecutors and defense lawyers agreed to drop the maximum sentence of five years in prison.
