A plane carrying about 25 passengers and crew crashed near the eastern island of Papua on Saturday killing all the passengers in the plane, local radio reported with the help of navy officer.
Initially a transport ministry official said there were 21 passengers which includes children, passengers and crew. The twin turbo-prop plane took off from Sorong city for Kaimana district in West Papua province.
According to the information given by navy officer to the ElShinta radio-all the passengers are surely dead as the plane crashed into two pieces and dropped into the sea. Fifteen dead bodies were found floating on the water surface and other were trapped inside the wreckage.
"A MA-60 aircraft crashed into the sea, some 500 metres away from the airstrip," before its intended landing, Bambang Ervan told AFP. He added that during the time of crash the weather was bad and the place was less visible.
After that hurtle the European Union barred all Indonesian airlines from entering its airspace, but calm the ban on some of the airlines two years later after it said many safety troubles had been resolved.
