ALBAY, Philippines - Three people died whereas at least 22 others were hospitalized because of diarrhea that broke in the rural community of Daraga, Albay in Bicol since last month.
The water from a spring was a possible cause of the incident, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday.
The NDRRMC identified two of the three fatalities as: Arthur Mirandilla, 53 years old; and Rolly Maravillas, 53 years old.
Also, it believed 55 % of the victims were grown male persons whereas the majority cases had signs of loose bowel movement, nausea/vomiting, and yellowish to greenish stool.
In an ocular survey of the water sources illustrated that the unadvanced spring is just situated in an outlying area where the victims were staying.
Local health personnel coordinated with the rural community council to put a stop to inhabitants from getting water from the spring. A fenced was built around the spring by the village council members.
