The treasure trove of medieval articles was discovered by a man while digging in his backyard in Austria for enlarging the pond – the value of the items at a rough estimate would be around $136,000.

The find includes 200 rings, broaches, ornate belts, buckles, gold-plated silver plates – the age of these beautiful jewelry is 650 years plus and the weight around 3 Kg.

The discovery had been made in 2007 while expanding the pond in the grounds and the owner did not report it at the time.

Detailed investigations have now been launched by the department of national antiques and the Academy of Sciences in Austria - but, it would be difficult to pin point the original owner or trace how the items came to be buried where they were finally found.
