The 56th Annual Drama Desk Awards

While the beleaguered musical “Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark” has garnered numerous headlines over the past few months due to its various incidents and poor reviews but there are many other productions that are worthy of some note. The Drama Desk Awards pay tribute to the actors and productions on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway that debuted in the 2010-2011 New York theater season. The fifty-sixth annual Drama Desk Awards will be held on May 23 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The awards presentation will consist of a sit down dinner gala, musical numbers from the nominated productions, and the awards ceremony. Harvey Fierstein will host the event.
