Jaipur, the city known as the Pink City has crowned a 12-year old boy as its Maharaja (or King). Jaipur is a favorite tourist destination and crowning the 12-year old Kumar Padmanabh Singh is seen as a continuance of the legacy that is still present even though Kings do not have any separate identity in India. He is the grandson of Sawai Bhawani Singh, the famous polo player.
While the country does not recognize any Kings the locals and villagers still now treat them as belonging to a superior class and invariably bow their heads in respect – even if he is only 12-years old.
Kumar Padmanabh Singh studies in the Mayo College and is reported to be a good student who has interest in sports as well. As a Maharaja, he inherits the huge fortune of the estate that might run into millions.
