MANILA, Philippines - The prominent Christian denomination, Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) has uttered support for the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill.
INC Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo said the bill needs to be passed. In the letter, Manalo said it is the "moral imperative" of every parent and close relative to direct their children and make certain they have provisions, sanctuary, clothing, and right learning. This can be done if they "plan the number of their children and keep it under control."
Authors of the hot reproductive health (RH) bill in the House of Representatives welcomed the support of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on the bill now awaiting for authorization in its second reading.
In a text message, Kaka Bag-ao, Akbayan party-list Representative, and one of the authors of the RH bill said that, “We welcome the INC's statement of support for the RH bill. This support shows that the RH debate is not about morality and that not all faiths are anti-RH.
Emmi De Jesus, Gabriela Representative look forward that the INC can lend a hand in the information distribution on the requirements of the bill which, she said, advantageous to women, particularly those in the marginalized sector.
Unlike the Catholic Church, INC favors the making use of synthetic contraceptives, as long as such process is not measured as abortifacients.
