Tucson and Arizona among U.S. Areas of Mexican Drug Gangs Expansion

Mexican Gangs Control Parts of Arizona

There is increasing evidence that Mexican drug gangs are expanding their operations across the U.S. border and moving into other parts of the country at an alarming rate. One of the gangs, the Zetas, are bringing the drug wars into the U.S. as assassins, bandits, thieves and thugs cross the easily accessible border.

According to an Arizona sheriff those guarding the border, such as the Border Patrol, are outgunned and outmanned by drug smugglers armed with automatic weapons, grenades and state-of-the-art communications and tracking systems. He said drug profits have allowed the cartels, particularly the Zetas, to develop experts in explosives, wiretapping, counter surveillance, lock-picking and Global Positioning System technology.
