
Hard rock and heavy metal music gets a few mentions in the Grammy Awards each year, but the Golden Gods Awards is the only awards presentation dedicated solely to the heavier side of rock music. On April 21, the Golden Gods were announced in Los Angeles. The music channel Vh1 will air the awards on May 28 and Rvolver Magazine will dedicate a special issue to the Golden Gods on May 24.
The event was hosted by rocker, wrestler, and dancer Chris Jericho. Rockers attending the awards who made presentations or performed were Rob Zombie, Corey Taylor, Scott Ian, The Damned Things, Brian Posehn, Robb Flynn, Wayne Static, Vinnie Paul, Duff McKagan, Chino Moreno, Taylor Momsen, Sebastian Bach, Mike Portnoy, Charlie Benante, David Coverdale, Motley Crue, William Shatner, Alice Cooper, Geezer Butler, Steve Jones, Dave Navarro, Scott Ian, Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, Max Cavalera, Jamey Jasta, Gilby Clarke, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Megadeth, Static X, Dethklok, Fear Factory, Machine Hear, We Are the Fallen, Murderdolls, Suicide Silence, Winds of Plague, Chris cole, Dan Hardy, Josh Barnett, and Wendy Dio
