The dead body of Phylicia Barnes has recently been discovered in a Maryland river, opening new doors of investigation into the murder case of the 17-year-old
Phylicia Barnes’s family was utterly devastated when news of her dead body being found was reported to them. For the family, all hopes of her returning home to them had been crushed. Phylicia Barnes was a 17-year-old girl who belonged to North Carolina and who had gone to visit her older half-siblings in Baltimore on the 28th of December, 2010.
Phylicia Barnes disappeared from Baltimore on that very same day, and there had been no sign of hers ever since up till the time her body was discovered just few days ago.
Phylicia Barnes’s body was one of two bodies which were extracted from the Susquehanna River, with the other one belonging to a man, who has still not been identified. The investigators have taken the finger prints of the other dead body, and it is hoped that the man will be identified soon enough. As of yet, it is still unclear whether the dead man was linked to Phylicia Barnes in any way.
Investigators had been exploring the case of Phylicia Barnes’s disappearance ever since she was reported missing and nearly 12 homicide investigators were working with the city police to locate her. However, now that her body has been discovered, things have taken a different turn and the investigation will now be directed towards a different side.
The Maryland State Police Superintendent Col. Terrence Sheridan said regarding the incident, "We're not going to spare any expense to try to find out what happened to these two people, but it's going to take a lot of work."
The Maryland Police was even assisted by FBI in the disappearance case of Phylicia Barnes, but they could come up with few leads. The family of Phylicia Barnes had even raised $35,000 as reward money to help find their daughter, but none of that helped.
There were no marks of any struggle on Phylicia Barnes’s body when it was found, and both the bodies whish were found, had no clothes on. According to the authorities, the Susquehanna river is a cold one, and it is quite probably that the bodies were lying deep in the water when it was cold, but they were brought to the surface when the weather became warmer.
Even though Phylicia Barnes’s body has been recovered, there are still a lot of unanswered questions which remain looming in the air.
