Tha Gibraltar government have announced an inducement which they may persuade cruise ships spending longer periods tied up alongside.

The ships are being permitted to keep their onboard facilities casinos and shops to remain open after 1800hrs whilst in port.

Previously the ships have been leaving port around 1700 hours so that they can open once they are in international waters.

It is hoped this action will persuade cruise ships to remain longer in port with financial advantages to the gibraltarian businesses; at the same time creating the possibility of longer excursion trips for passengers.

The measures necessary are being drafted to enshrine the measure in Gibraltarian law.
