Over 200 families were left homeless in the town of Utica in central Colombian after a mudslide had swept away their houses.

Treacherous rains had caused the local river to break their banks, sending masses of water, mud and stones throughout the town's streets.

Officials reported that one elderly woman had died and two men are reported to be missing.

Meteorologists reported that five of Colombia's provinces were double the average of rainfall for the month of April.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos stated that he is to visit Utica in order to inspect the damage that is caused in the town.

Utica mayor Marcel Hernandez reported that 238 families were left with nothing.
