Historic Vigan

At the height of the Spanish colonial era in the 18th and 19th centuries, Vigan was the third most important City in the Philippines after Manila and Cebu. It was the center of Spanish colonial power in Northern Luzon. Whereas in the past century Manila and Cebu have lost much of their urban and architectural heritage, Vigan has retained a large number of Spanish colonial structures whether religious, government, or residential.

Vigan is known to most Filipinos as their own “heritage City.”
