Tucson and Arizona parents have been given a say over what education materials are used in public schools.
Gov. Jan Brewer has signed SB 1453 that required schools to obtain written consent from a parent or guardian before using a video, audio or electronic materials that may be inappropriate for the age of the student.
The law will take effect in the summer of 2011 also says that parents have a right to review learning materials in advance. A parent can request to withdraw a student from the activity, class or program if the material is considered harmful.
