Dispatch: Colombia, Venezuela Bargaining Over Extradition

The government of Colombia signed the extradition of alleged drug lord Walid Makled Venezuela Venezuela.

This was announced by the Colombian Interior Minister, Herman Vargas, a news conference.

The United States also requested the extradition of Makled, although the Colombian president, Juan Manuel Santos, and promised to send him to Caracas.

As the newspaper El Tiempo, Colombia, the country's authorities said the decision was based on legal grounds because, inter alia, Colombia has no extradition treaty with the United States but with Venezuela.
