Yoo Ye-eun was born blind in South Korea and adopted in 2002. Today the five year old is a child star who never took formal piano lessons but can play a tune to perfection after one hearing.
A video of her performance on Pandora TV has garnered 27 million views. A similar performance on YouTube has collected 2 million hits. Her dispaly on a Korean talent show "Star King" earned her 500 Pounds Sterling in prize money and left the crowd in tears. She has featured in national celebrations for Korea Day and delivered a special performance for the visiting Singapore Prime Minister.
Ye-eun focuses on classical pieces by the likes of Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven. She has been hailed as a "five year old genius Mozart" and flooded with offers of sponsorship, even by doctors who attempted to restore her sight. She says she practices every day and her ambition simply is to 'become a great pianist'. With focus like that, it's little wonder that she's going places.
