Strong Quake Shakes China

Sunday evening around 5.00 pm a 5.3 magnitude earthquake hit Luhuo county in in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province in South West China according to Xinhua News reports. The tremor originating at a depth of 7 km below the ground at 31.3 degrees north latitude and 100.9 degrees east longitude according to China Earthquake Monitoring Centre.

The quake lasted for 40 to 50 seconds and household furniture in the houses shook severely according to local people. Telecommunication was affected for few moments. However no causalities or injuries to the people reported in the region.
