Could breastfeeding actually help in getting back into shape more quickly after pregnancy? There are studies that actually prove this to be true. In the studies, breastfeeding seemed to help women lose more fat / weight than those who didn’t. However, they only lost more fat / weight from their lower bodies. Pregnancy causes more fat to be stored in the body, especially in the lower body and this is to support the baby while pregnant and also while breastfeeding.
Unfortunately, the most recent study done on whether breastfeeding could lead to faster weight loss or not, did not share the same results as these previous studies. There was no evidence found to show that breastfeeding could lead to faster weight loss and it seemed that there was no real difference in the amount of weight lost between breastfeeding women and non-breastfeeding women.
