The Yahoo Contributor / Associated Content account deletion scam has affected a countless number of prior freelance writers with Yahoo!

This article is posted for all those poor people out there who might’ve put in 16 or more hours a day on Yahoo Contributor Associated Content and turned out a lot of quality material but got deleted for no reason. Even how you found out about this deletion was cowardly, by signing onto your account and getting an anonymous prompt:

“Due to a violation of our terms and conditions, your Associated Content account has been closed and you are banned from participation. Any pending payments owed to you have been cancelled and the corresponding content has been removed.”

If there really and truly was a problem, why didn’t they just delete the offending article/s? Deleting someone’s account and then keeping their profile active so people can view their articles – which yahoo can use to make money from – is unethical.

Why not delete their profile as well? Also, a lot of “display only” material is still getting hits which you will not get paid for.

Not to mention pending payments, those are cancelled and hits received from display-only articles which you're due money on will not be paid for! You’ve lost money on all the articles that you worked so hard to build a name on…

By signing up with Yahoo Contributor you are totally at their mercy and your account is deleted with no prior warning! Does anyone see a problem with that or is it just me who thinks this is immoral and cruel beyond words?

If Yahoo Contributor or Yahoo has a problem with people complaining about Yahoo’s warped policies, it’s just too bad.

Thankfully, there is still such a thing as “freedom of speech.” Even if they don’t like it, our freedom of speech is not up for Yahoo review! You've broken our hearts Yahoo! I hope these unethical account deletions, including my own, hits Yahoo's reputation hard.

I too had my account deleted and was never given a reason. My writing ability had never come into question. I tired logging in one day after submitting several new articles and could not log in. I had over 70 articles and over 50,000 views. I never made but a few dollars here and there but I never expected to make much. Anyway it is their loss and I will never write for another article site like them. For all those who want some advice. Turn your old associated content articles into e-books and sell them on Amazon.
