According to sources, Mahi shaved off his head at around 2:45-3:00am on April 2nd World Cup victory night. He is believed to have made a prior commitment to do so before a deity in his hometown in Ranchi.

Dhoni is advised to offer the hair at the renowned Balaji temple in Tirupati. Dhoni at first appeared in his new bald look at the official photo session infront of the Gateway of India. In the past Dhoni cut his stylish long hair after the T20 World Cup victory in South Africa in 2007.
