
Associated Press reports from Memphis Tennessee. Larry Finch who played basketball for the Memphis State University(MSU) Tigers from 1970-1973, played a short career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and then returned to become the men's basketball coach at MSU from 1986-1997 died Saturday morning at age 60.
University of Memphis spokesman Lamar Chance said Saturday the cause of Finch's death is unkwown.
Finch suffred a stroke in 2002. In October 2010 Finch was admitted to a Memphis hospital due to pneumonia.
Finch's final record at the University of Memphis was 220-130. He coached the Tigers to six NCAA men's basketball appearences including a run to the Elite Eight in 1992.
Finch played basketball at Memphis State University from 1970-1973 scoring 1,869 points and was a guard on the 1973 team that lost to the Bill Walton led UCLA Bruins despite Finch scoring 29 points in the title game. May he rest in peace.
