‘Gomti Yatra’ organized for relieving Gomti River from pollution, reached Jaunpur on 1st April. After welcoming them at many places, they reached to ‘Visarjan Ghat’. The leader persons appealed to the local citizens to contribute in freeing Gomti River from pollution in a program organized there. Lok Bharti Swayam Sevi Sanstha’s organizing secretary Rajendra Pal Singh, CDRI scientist Dr. Narendra Mehrotra, Mahant Ramsevak Das ‘Gomti Baba’, Aacharya Vinoda Bhave’s assistant Ramesh Bhai (Shahjahanpur), professor of environment science (Ambedkar University) Dr. Venkatesh Duttare are the main persons in this program. Aware women also participated in this program by contributing worship of Gomti River accordingly to Hindu mythology. On this occasion, City Board Chairman Dinesh Tandon, Shri Durga Pooja Mahasamiti’s Chairman Nikhilesh Singh, Bhartiya Janata Party leader Sardar Singh, Shyam Mohan Aggrawal, Tribhuvan Singh, Samajwadi Party leader Dr. Krishna Kumar also present there. On request of persons related to campaign, eleven people accepted volunteer ship for cleaning Gomti River.
