He is Bob Gibbins, a 60-year old car mechanic who is happily married with two kids. He fell in love with anatomically correct love dolls 10 years back and wants recognition - he wants to get his name in the Guinness Book of world records but Guinness does not have a suitable category for him. He has a total of 240 of these and his nearest rival, a Japanese, has 100.
Bob Gibbins lives in Manley, Herefordshire and has purchased the love dolls from various sources and loves and adores them. His purchases have been funded by his wife on a few occasions. He takes care of them and, in his own words, the care involves regular cleaning, washing and grooming because even though they are lifeless inanimate objects, unless properly cared for, they would lose their charms. They are made of silicon material and sweat a lot. Hence, needs regular maintenance work.
He vehemently denies that he puts his love dolls to any use other than as decorative pieces in his house – he and his wife dress them up, have photo sessions with them and take them out for drives. His collection of love dolls is worth over $160,000 and would be the envy of many.
